Vision Pro SDK har släppts
The Vision Pro SDK has been released
The Vision Pro SDK has unveiled more details about Apple’s mixed-reality headset. While some aspects remain unknown, developers have made interesting discoveries. In VR mode, users are confined to a 3-by-3 meter area, with the device revealing the real world if objects or people enter the space. However, in mixed-reality mode, users can move freely, with the headset displaying the eyes of nearby individuals.
The SDK revealed a ”travel mode” for airplane use, requiring users to remain stationary and disabling certain features for accuracy. Visual Search, a standout feature, allows the Vision Pro to scan surroundings, identify objects, recognize text, and provide live translation. It leverages Apple’s machine vision techniques, including those developed for LiDAR and hand detection on iPhones.
The visionOS SDK, compatible with Apple’s Xcode development environment, equips developers with the code and details to update their apps for the Vision Pro. A simulator provides a rough approximation of the device’s display, but actual testing requires the Vision Pro itself. Developers face a tight timeline to prepare their apps for the headset’s expected launch in early 2024. Apple’s advancements in mixed reality with the Vision Pro are setting a high standard for VR and AR headsets, hinting at the future of the industry.
